Copywriter/ Social Media Coordinator - Temporary
This position will be responsible for the creation of social and digital storytelling that reflects the dynamic work of our students, faculty, and alumni, as well as the programming and events of various departments. The qualified individual will assist the Marketing Team at MI in planning and implementing social media strategies and coverage. This postion is temporary for approximately 2 - 3 months.
Essential Duties Summary Responsibilities:
- Handles day-to-day content curation (25%) and creation (75%) on all MI's social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram/IGTV, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other platforms as they are adopted, in coordination with the overarching editorial calendar.
- Regularly meets with other departments to gain insight and new content ideas to promote and increase engagement.
- Engages with MI's students, alumni, faculty, and staff to surface news and stories.
- Provides social media coverage for events and public programs.
- Create, execute and report on social poles, survey and contest that drive engagement and top-of-funnel leads for admission.
- Will be expected to increase followers and engagement on MI’s social media accounts, and in some cases help drive traffic to the mi.edu website.
- Monitors the MI's brand in the digital space.
- Responds to direct messages from social media followers within 24 hour window, aside from weekends and/or on days off, unless working special event on a weekend.
- Develop and manage an inventory of hashtags to be properly used when promoting the school, programs, campaigns, events and anything else that our require a social presence.
- Researches social media analytics to better understand and engage with internal and external communities.
- Delivery of accurate reporting (weekly, monthly quarterly and annual) across all social network channels regarding performance metrics, KIPs and any spend attributed back social media.
- Manages the mi.edu Events Calendar, on social media platforms and event submissions from faculty and staff.
- Assists in the creation and distribution of MI's digital marketing collateral on social media.
Necessary Background and Education:
- A bachelor’s degree preferred and 1-3 years of social media experience.
- Fluent in all social media networks, with a strong interest in new communication technologies.
- Must have an understanding of search engine optimization and internet marketing best practices.
- Ability to develop and execute a variety of content across social media and online platforms, including text, photos, graphics, and video. Previous experience writing, copy editing, and video editing is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and a basic understanding of Content Management Systems (WordPress ), XHTML, CSS, and web design.
- Knowledge of social media advertising platforms on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter.
- Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment, with strong time management and organizational skills, as well as a keen attention to detail and a good decision maker.
- Ability and willingness to learn and adapt quickly.
- Self-motivated and able to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified timeframes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, in a team environment, and across departments.
- Some evenings and/or weekend hours are required.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour
