Job Description
As an Oracle Database Administrator, you will perform administration duties for server systems, deploy software updates and assist with installation and system recovery as needed, support system documentation and accreditation activities, manage Oracle database system backups, and configure Oracle database systems to ensure optimal performance.
What you’ll be doing...
The Database Administrator's primary responsibility will be to provide database server administration support for an operational commercial software system that uses an Oracle database for its primary data management capability. Documentation of system processes and product vendor assistance will be provided for installation of software upgrades, bug fixes, and specialized system tuning. The candidate may perform some limited SQL query development to support special requests from system users and may perform limited modifications to system functionality.
Specific tasks include...
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot Oracle databases
- Perform database upgrades and patching
- Demonstrated operations experience with Linux based platform to include installation, administration, and troubleshooting in support of Oracle databases.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Oracle Database Performance and provide support for database related issues.
- Periodically perform backup/recovery to validate the backup/recover procedures.
- Experience with container database and pluggable database desired.
- Hands on experience with Oracle RAC desired.
What we’re looking for...
- An active (currently in use) – TS/SCI
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security or equivalent education and/or work experience.
- 5+ years demonstrated experience in Oracle RDBMS, RMAN, and administration. Duties include design, installation, upgrades, patching, system maintenance, backup/restore operations, resolving communication issues, scripting, etc.
- Linux operating system installation, upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Updating device firmware or vendor supplied appliance software.
- Remediating security vulnerabilities or applying security controls to any hardware or software platform. Experience with STIGS and FIPS.
- Skilled in SQL, PL/SQL, Linux shell scripting.
- Experience interacting with Oracle Support.
- Works independently within a team, provides general direction to customers and fellow team members.
- Accountable for quality, completeness, and on-time delivery of own work products.
- Research new technology and develops business cases to support product-wide database solutions.

- Experience with Java application servers
- Oracle Certifications, such as OCA, OCP, OC
