The Falls Compounding Pharmacy is a compounding only independent pharmacy located in Snoqualmie, WA. It has been open for business since 1999. We provide non-sterile and sterile compounded preparations to a very diverse patient population. We prepare custom medications for patients based on a prescriber’s order.
We are looking to hire a non-sterile compounding technician. Previous training as a compounding technician preferred but not required.
A non-sterile compounding pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist with providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services in accordance with the policies and procedures, the State of Washington pharmacy laws, USP 795 and other regulatory entities. The nonsterile compounding pharmacy technician works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, working in the non-sterile lab and general pharmacy area. A non-sterile compounding pharmacy technician is experienced in all aspects of medication compounding and dispensing of prescriptions.
Job Responsibilities
- Assists the pharmacist with the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies using appropriate techniques and following policies and procedures. Accurately calibrates equipment. Assists with recording and maintaining pharmacy daily temperature and cleaning logs. Ensures that all pharmacy surfaces and equipment are cleaned per policies and procedures.
- Understands and can perform basic pharmaceutical calculations in order to obtain correct doses of medications and potency of compounding formulas.
- Prepares medications under the supervision of a pharmacist so they are accurately compounded. Ensures that a licensed pharmacist properly checks all compounding and packing. Adheres to appropriate safety and quality assurance practices. Complies with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Speaks knowledgeably of the scope of services that are available through the Falls Compounding Pharmacy. Understands basic drug terminology and therapies/services provided.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and pharmacy proprietary information. Observes legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding the confidentiality of patient and proprietary pharmacy information. Understands and complies with HIPAA.
- Participates in the process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication-related incidents and equipment error and/or failures.
- Assists with the training and supervision of new pharmacy technicians.
- Aids in filling, processing and dispensing prescriptions. Re-packages and labels prescriptions. Provide customer service by answering phone calls in a prompt and courteous manner.
- In all activities, complies with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
- Completes all duties as assigned by on duty pharmacist and Pharmacist-in-Charge.
- May work on additional projects, participate in performance improvement, complete and monitor quality control, assist with purchases, and coordinate and prioritize and triage daily compounding scheduling.
Skills and Experience
- Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician license
- Compounding and/or laboratory experience strongly preferred but not required
- Ability to work on your feet for an 8 hour shift
- Ability to operate computer and laboratory equipment
- Ability to use your hands, wrists, and arms to prepare and check compounds.
- Exceptional communication skills with patients and co-workers.
Hours of operation: Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 1pm. Closed weekends and major holidays.
