Position Summary:
The Clinical Director for our Intensive Outpatient Program is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day clinical operations, clinical service delivery, milieu dynamics and succes, staff development and management; quality of care; interdepartmental staff training and oversight for clinical interventions, treatment planning and documentation in compliance with company policies and our governing agency regulations. The Clinical Director is an essential leader and represents our company for both internal and external partners. Must maintain professionalism and respect organizational information, as well as have effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and be a role model for our clinical team. We look for someone to work with our team to enhance our cultural environment, maintain positivity, take ownership of problems when they occur and strategize needs for change management. The role is responsible for collaborating with similar teams to ensure smooth operations, quality, and compliance. This role will be responsible for team supervision, celebration, inclusion, and, when needed, corrective actions.
Essential Functions
Leadership
- Prioritize / maintain/support a healthy, safe, and positive working environment which is respectful of staff and clients and is free from bias/discrimination, harassment, disrespect, and unprofessionalism
- Provide staff and clients with information about protocols in the event of complaints or concerns about programming, resources, or other issues, as needed
- Represent company's mission, values, philosophy, and goals among staff and clients, and communicate this culture to staff and ensure values are demonstrated
- Adhere to ethics and standards, compliance with regulations and the operational policies and procedures
- Utilize critical thinking skills to anticipate challenges, prioritize, proactively plan, and generalize information and systems for the efficient operation of the organization

Hiring and Performance Management
- Work with Human Resources in talent acquisition, interviewing, identification of top candidates
- Manage new employee training, including core competencies, BHA/JC required training, and skills assessment for ongoing professional development of new staff
- Monitors and ensures documentation of on-going core competencies and other training for all staff, including Joint Commission and BHA required training. Arranges or delegate arrangements for standard training opportunities
- Ongoing continuing education and professional development support for staff
- Ensures that pre-licensed/certified staff are supervised by appropriately credentialed clinical staff and progress toward licensure/certification
- Convene weekly multidisciplinary staffing, modeling case presentation quality and format while facilitating effective discussion. Maintains a log of meeting content, decisions, and discussion
- Convene weekly group clinical supervision including administration, case conceptualization, training, and professional development. Maintains documentation/notes for each meeting.
- Ensure all documentation by staff is completed on a daily basis.
- Provide weekly individual supervision (clinical and administrative) for all assigned clinical staff. Document every event.
- Communicate organizational, regulatory, and policy information in an effective and professional manner, translating content to create relevance and operationalized application
- Communicate the needs, challenges, and strengths of clinical staff to the Executive leadership team, as needed. Advocates for changes and resources. Reports on quality, timeliness, and performance
- Ensures staff performance meets standards and expectations
- Audits clinical and relevant staff in order to ensure assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, EMR data, and other documentation is completed within timelines. Ensures quality, accuracy, completeness
- Provides feedback to staff and monitors remediation follow-up as requested by chart checks, QA medical record reviews; provides supervisory follow-up / progressive discipline on non-compliance
- Maintain direct knowledge of staff performance, attendance, and issues and intervenes in a timely manner to remediate deficits
- Monitor staff performance for:
a. Quality of interactions/interventions
b. Behavior/rules management skills and follow-through
c. Documentation: thorough, accurate, timely

- Provide staff with additional training and supports to improve compliance and remediate deficiencies in order to reach performance goals; and provides mentoring and coaching supports pursuant to personal professional development which integrate agency and individual staff goals
- Participate in progressive discipline protocols, in consultation with HR, supervisor, and/or Leadership team, as warranted and relevant
- Reports of harassment of any type are immediately reported to HR and Executive Leadership, as appropriate. Participates in follow-up activities as requested.
- Assign and oversee clinician responsibilities in the provision of intake/detox processes, individual, group and family therapy; case management, crisis intervention, ACA diversion, relapse management, medical interface; and on-call and family education rotations
- Ensure employee coverage, consistency, and quality of service provision
a. Schedules and frequency of services in adherence with LOC guidelines
b. Quality of group and 1:1 services: therapeutic goals and content, needs met
c. Maintains group assignments or substitutions in a manner that supports consistency
- Participate in the provision of clinical services including:
a. Back-up/reinforce and/or on rotation for assessments and transfer processes
b. Back-up/reinforce: Group, individual, family therapy
c. Provides guarantor consultation (regarding treatment trajectory and LOC)
d. Provide Community Group facilitation
e. ACA diversion, behavior and relapse supports to staff, and emergent needs
f. Back-up/reinforce discharge planning and documentation
- Clinical interface and consultation with allied professionals, including medical, nutrition, and other staff; Oversight of the clinical team on peer reviews and justifications
- Maintain direct knowledge and manage clinical assignments and client course and response to treatment, including client and group assignments, LOC and trajectory, treatment plans, behavioral issues, documentation status
- Oversee and ensure appropriate clinical structure and service delivery systems
- Spearheads resolution of clinical complaints from clients and families
- Refers financial discussions to accounting staff
- Complete Occupancy Reports accurately and timely for billing census
- Milieu and Program Management
- Oversee the structure and offerings of clinical program schedule, ensuring balanced content, quality, and variety
- Oversee and manage interface with independent contracts providing groups and experiential activities
- Coordinate with nursing management to create and maintain effective interface of BHT medical support activities, training, and oversight
- Oversee residential assignments, including bed assignments, gender appropriate settings, staffing patterns, LOC considerations, milieu balance and safety
- Communicate to admissions, accounting, census, treatment plans, clinical record, and leadership about sober living arrangements and off-site housing approvals, as needed
- Understanding and assisting with level of care needs and changes
- Participate in medical record review preparations, as requested, including oversight of staff remediation of charts
- Participation in Quality Improvement committees
- Maintain current familiarity with compliance and policy/procedure adherence to
a. Joint Commission standards
b. BHA Licensing standards
c. State/Federal requirements
d. Policies/procedures/practices and treatment philosophy
e. ASAM/LOCUS criteria
f. Insurance brand level of care guidelines
- Participate in accreditation processes and collaborate with licensure processes, assisting to prepare for and co-facilitate of site audits, licensing authority reviews, and site visits
- Ensure clinical compliance with third-party payor contracts; and
- Oversees investigation and documentation of critical incidents which rise to the level of internal reporting and/or reporting to BHA and other authorities
- Oversees and communicates LOC regarding authorizations.

- Adhere to regulations and guidelines set forth by Colorado’s BHA, Joint Commission (JC), and National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP)
- Comply with confidentiality and clients’ rights regulations
- Comply with communication practices and policies, including the hierarchy of notification in an emergency
- Complete Core Competencies training(s) within 14 days of hire
- Complete additional assigned training and certifications by assigned due dates

Required Qualifications
- Active Colorado licensed LPC, LCSW or LMFT
- 3+ years clinical leadership experience within treatment facilities and/or working with mental health, trauma and/or substance use challenges
- Masters’ Degree
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- EMR experience
- Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience with a therapy team
Preferred Qualifications
Compensation: $105,000-$115,000
