Job Description:
As the Director of Tax, you’ll focus on building scalable processes and enhancing operational efficiency for strategic accounting initiatives. Collaborating across functions—Sales, People Operations, and R&D—you’ll ensure our tax approach is top-notch and efficient. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! This role requires 2 to 3 days in the office per week.
Responsibilities:
Manage third-party tax service providers, ensuring timely completion of tax returns and provision requirements under ASC 740 and related financial disclosures.
Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance, income tax accounting, transfer pricing, and planning.
Calculate tax provisions in compliance with ASC 740 and IFRS.
Review R&D tax credit calculations and studies for Ireland and the United Kingdom.
Lead global tax compliance filings, collaborating with the international accounting team.
Prepare and review cash tax forecasts and federal/state income tax payment calculations.
Develop tax strategies aligned with business goals, providing proactive advice on tax implications.
Handle global audits and tax inquiries, working with external auditors and consultants.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual Sales Tax filings, VAT, and other domestic/international tax submissions.
Serve as the main point of contact for external tax advisors and regulatory authorities.
Analyze and document tax positions to mitigate risks.
Maintain transfer pricing strategies for global compliance and tax optimization.
Lead and develop a tax team, fostering collaboration and high performance.
Communicate technical tax issues effectively to cross-functional leaders.
Qualifications:
Experience: 8+ years of international tax accounting experience.
Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent at building relationships, listening, persuading, and influencing.
Sharp analytical thinker, attentive to details, and thoughtful in tax strategy.
Effective multitasker who works independently to achieve successful outcomes.
Strong time and project management skills in a fast-moving, creative work environment.
Certification: CPA preferred.
Background: Mix of Big-4 and in-house experience at a multinational corporation (preferred).
Industry Exposure: Experience with SaaS-related businesses (preferred).
Compensation:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: Up to $285K + bonus.
