Responsibilities:
Overview:
Provide technical support to the utilities unit, develop and support plant projects, environmental activities, and unit stewardship, quality, and reliability.
Qualifications:

Understands Chemical Engineering fundamentals and how to apply them to solve technical problems.

Performs heat exchanger rating, hydraulic calculations, relief calculations, leak calculations
-
Has experience in P&ID development, vessel sizing, line sizing, heat exchanger sizing, and pump sizing.

Specifies pumps, heat exchangers, steam traps, instruments, and other equipment via data sheet development.

Specifies pressure relief devices (PRDs) and is familiar with applicable industry regulations, codes, and standards.

Develops and issues process letters to document process studies, designs, and evaluations.

Work with Capital Project Managers on process discipline related projects design and installations.

Identifies continuous improvement opportunities and escalates to Technology Leader for addition to Unit Technology Plan.

Participates with hazard identification studies (What If, HAZOP) and evaluating risk through application of LOPA for process changes.

Works effectively and efficiently with multiple disciplines (e.g. Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Global Process Technology, Process Control, Projects) in the execution of unit changes and capital projects.

Manages competing priorities at the same time - daily operations support and multiple simultaneous projects or assignments.

Participates in Management of Change (MOC) process.

Participates and/or leads root cause analyses (RCAs).

Supports tracking of Key Process Indicators (KPIs) and escalates emerging issues to Technology Leader.

Supports unit operations with troubleshooting requests; Supports unit startups, shutdowns, and turnarounds.

Qualifications:
Required:

Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
-
Min 3 years of process engineering experience.

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively facilitate technical discussions. Strong communication skills with cross functional groups (operations, reliability, vendors, regional and global resources).

Ability to work with other groups such as Maintenance, Reliability, Projects Groups and Operations.
-
Ability to analyze complex situations and think strategically to design a plan.
-
Technical, reliability, and process safety knowledge.
-
Knowledge of process design, instrumentation, process control, statistics, hydraulics and calculation, and process safety.
Preferred
-
Knowledge of process engineering tools, e.g. ASPEN and HTRI
-
Experience with demineralization units desirable
