Job Title: Lead Preschool Teacher
Location: Temple Ohav Shalom Center for Early Learning (Allison Park, PA)
Salary Range: $17 to $20 per hour, commensurate with experience
Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Preschool Teacher who is dedicated to early childhood education, loves learning, and enjoys working collaboratively with a team of other educators. As a Lead Preschool Teacher at Temple Ohav Shalom Center for Early Learning, you will play a pivotal role in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can explore, discover, and learn through hands-on experiences guided by the Reggio Emilia pedagogical approach and infused with Jewish traditions and values.
Responsibilities:
- Foster a supportive and collaborative learning environment where children are encouraged to express themselves creatively and develop critical thinking skills.
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Observe and document children's interests, progress, and achievements to inform curriculum planning and assessment.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, parents, and administrators to create a strong sense of community and partnership.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment that reflects the values and philosophy of the Reggio Emilia approach.
- Continuously engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay updated on current research and best practices in early childhood education and Jewish education.
- Provide guidance and support to assistant teachers and classroom aides to ensure the effective implementation of the curriculum and the well-being of all children.
- Conduct oneself in accordance with Center for Early Learning core values of Tikkun Olam (acts of kindness), Masa (journey), Kehillah (community), Simcha (joy), Mishpachah (family), Kavanah (intention), Shema (hear or listen).
- Care for and develop a stimulating environment and curate resources.
- Partner and communicate with families, with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for their children.
- Supervise, guide, and document child interactions.
- Regularly report to parents and lead parent-teacher conferences.
- Invest in the life of the school by participating in weekly meetings and school events.
- Learn, reflect, and collaborate with colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a preschool teacher, with experience in implementing the Reggio Emilia approach highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education, as well as familiarity with Jewish customs and traditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with young children in a Jewish educational environment.
- Ability to maintain a positive and nurturing classroom environment while managing multiple responsibilities.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Act 33/34 clearances required.
- 12 Early Childhood Education units required.
- Higher degrees in education, early childhood education, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with young children.
- Understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach required.
- Working knowledge of Jewish values and traditions and ability to incorporate this knowledge into the curriculum.
- Professional, nurturing demeanor dedicated to young children, their families, and the profession.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of child development and early childhood theory and practice.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of building and fostering outstanding internal and external interpersonal relationships.
- Display effective, engaging, and creative educational skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a group.
- Detail-oriented, exceptionally organized, able to meet deadlines, flexible, able to remain calm under pressure, problem-solve, and resolve conflicts.
- Able to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer and database programs.
