**Job Description: Chef for Fraternity/Sorority House**
**Position Overview:**
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Chef to join our fraternity/sorority house team. As the Chef, you will be responsible for planning and preparing high-quality meals for our residents, ensuring nutritional balance, variety, and exceptional taste. This role requires creativity, organization, and the ability to manage kitchen operations efficiently.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Menu Planning and Preparation:**
- Create weekly menus that cater to the preferences and dietary needs of fraternity/sorority members.
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner following established recipes and maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
- Accommodate special dietary requests and restrictions as needed.
2. **Kitchen Management:**
- Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
- Monitor food stock levels and place orders for ingredients and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
3. **Team Leadership:**
- Supervise kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen assistants, and coordinate their tasks.
- Provide guidance and training to kitchen team members to enhance their culinary skills and efficiency.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the kitchen team.
4. **Budget Management:**
- Manage food costs effectively within budgetary constraints.
- Optimize food purchasing and minimize waste to maximize cost efficiency.
5. **Event Support:**
- Support special events and functions hosted by the fraternity/sorority by preparing and serving food.
- Collaborate with event planners and house managers to ensure successful event execution.
**Qualifications:**
- Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques and principles.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and vendors.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Culinary degree or relevant certification.
- Experience working in a fraternity or sorority house or similar communal living environment.
**Working Conditions:**
- Full-time position Avg 45 hours/wk
- Weekends off
- Holidays off
- Evenings off
- Fast-paced kitchen environment with frequent standing, lifting, and carrying.
