Duties and Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor and assess critically ill patients, including those recovering from general surgery, trauma, or transplant procedures.
- Provide advanced life support interventions, including the administration of medications, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Care for trauma patients requiring intensive monitoring and interventions.
- Collaborate with trauma teams to stabilize and manage critically injured patients.
- Provide specialized care for transplant recipients, including monitoring for signs of rejection and managing immunosuppressive medications.
- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients with complex medical and surgical conditions affecting multiple organ systems.
- Work closely with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other specialists to coordinate care for complex patients.
- Manage pain in postoperative and trauma patients using a variety of pain management strategies.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in critical care nursing, surgical nursing, and transplant nursing.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing updates on the patient's condition and involving them in the care process.
- Document changes in patient status and communicate them to the healthcare team.
Requirements
Experience Qualifications
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience, preferably in a Critical Care or Intensive Care Unit.
- Recent work experience in a Level 1 Trauma center highly desired, preferred.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare (BLS)
- Current American Heart Association Certification for Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support for Healthcare (ACLS)
- Current California Registered Nurse license (CA-RN)
