Job Description:
CleanJoule has the immediate need to hire (4) full-time on-site Junior Chemists in our research and development (R&D) pilot plant facility. This role will plan and execute R&D activities for organic hydrocarbon processes. The Junior Chemists will be required to perform routine and specialized chemical synthesis, separations, and analyses in a pilot plant environment. As well as prepare test solutions, compounds, or reagents for the R&D pilot plant personnel to conduct tests. Employees will compile and analyze test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiency or to diagnose malfunctions. Junior Chemists will confer with scientists or engineers to conduct analyses of research projects, interpret test results, or develop nonstandard tests. To be successful in this position, the employees must have the aptitude to effectively manage day-to day pilot plant, laboratory duties, and task lists with a high level of ownership.
The employees will work under immediate supervision and interact with all levels of management, scientists, engineers, research associates, and technicians. The employees will be required to maintain laboratory notebooks, analyze data, develop charts, attend meetings, participate in project activities planning sessions, and write technical summary reports.
This job will have non-standard work hours in accordance with the rigors of reactor runs.
Qualifications:
Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is required.
Experience and Knowledge:
· One year of experience and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures obtained through an undergraduate education with emphasis in chemistry or one year of direct work experience applying the chemistry concepts, practices, and procedures is required. Preference will be given to those that have laboratory experience.
· Prior experience using a Schlenk line apparatus is preferred.
· Experience with chemicals and chemical processes is desired.
· Prior experience handling flammable chemicals is preferred.
· Demonstrated proficiency in common computer tools and web-based applications is required.
· Prior experience successfully participating in work teams where personal accountability, attention to detail, collaboration, and results were required.

Physical Demands:
Frequent lifting and moving of items up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs, pulling, prolonged standing or sitting may be required. Must have safe work habits and perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies. This position requires the use of personal protective equipment that may include eye or face protection, gloves, masks, respirators, safety shoes, earplugs, coveralls and/or uniforms that are provided by the company and its use is mandatory.
