Job Description – Human Resources Administrative Assistant

Summary/Objective
Assists HR Director in daily Human Resources operations including; HRIS, payroll, benefits administration, disciplinary functions, compliance activity, recruitment, and onboarding activities.
Essential Functions

- Provides administrative support to the Director of Human Resources as well as the Corporate Controller and Senior Executive staff as needed.
- Under the supervision of the Human Resources Director - provides job candidates by sourcing, screening, interviewing, and testing applicants.
- Notifies existing staff of internal opportunities, maintains personnel records, and coordinates the requirements of temporary agencies.
- Administers Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability programs by advising employees of eligibility and assisting with the completion of applications and processing.
- Maintains human resources records by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases, and any other employee records.
- Ensures all new employees have received and completed orientation and onboarding materials
- Coordinates worker compensation claims, documentation, and resolution with management, medical offices, state offices, and workers compensation carriers.
- Documents human resources actions by insuring all compliance forms are properly completed such as I-9’s, E-Verify, and state specific employment requirements.
- Verifies that EEO-1, OSHA, and any other mandated reporting is completed on a timely basis.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
- Accomplishes human resources department and organizational missions by completed related results as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
Primary work area is a clean, professional, climate-controlled environment, however may be required to examine shop or outside work areas as part of safety or employee injury investigations.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours and days of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional overtime may be required.
Required Education and Experience
- Possess a minimum of a 2 years Associates degree in an administrative support area.
- 5 years prior experience in human resources staffing, benefits administration, payroll, policies administration, compliance, and HRIS.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Spanish fluency will be given preference during the selection process as we have a large Spanish speaking workforce.
Travel
Local travel is occasionally required for this position.
