Job Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Relay Field Technician to join our team. This position involves working on high voltage equipment and industrial electrical systems in the field.
Duties:
1. Interpret substation drawings (e.g., single line drawings, AC & DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings) and perform red-lining of design documents throughout the drawing set.
2. Writing procedures and/or test plans, risk assessments and practical application of basic protection and control systems/schemes in support of maintenance and construction activities.
3. Creates comprehensive functional guidelines and identifies common risks associated with testing and commissioning those systems & schemes.
4. Testing, including (without limitation): reading/verifying all voltage and current inputs to relays; verifying all metering (local and SCADA); calibrating all relays; trip testing (local and SCADA); verifying all alarms (local and SCADA); verifying all function switches, end-to-end testing; IED testing, etc.
5. Performing routine troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment. Commission new substations, power equipment, relaying (electro-mechanical, solid state and microprocessor), pilot channel equipment (power line carrier, pilot wire, transfer, transfer trip, fiber optic, CVT’s, line tuners, line traps, etc.), controls and communications equipment.
6. Leads people and tasks within a larger project, or provide technical and people leadership on projects with well-defined scopes of work.
7. Performs weekly site safety inspections.
8. Leads the application of HP with the approval of the Project Lead.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an industrial electrician or in a related field
- Proficiency in high voltage systems and equipment
- Ability to operate bucket trucks safely and efficiently
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and components
- Excellent problem-solving skills for troubleshooting issues on-site
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with low voltage systems
- Proficiency in utility locating techniques
- Knowledge of welding processes for on-site repairs
- Familiarity with construction site operations

Pay: $33.59 - $48.74 per hour
