The Assistant ECEAP Teacher collaborates with the Lead Teacher in planning and implementation of daily classroom lesson plans. The Assistant Teacher will work in accordance with program standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Teacher with implementation of developmentally appropriate daily routines and activities in the early childhood program that meet program expectations as stated in ECEAP Performance Standards and Policies and Procedures;
- Work daily with the classroom team in preparing classroom materials and maintaining a safe, healthy and nurturing classroom environment;
- Work with the Lead Teacher to guide and supervise children in developmentally appropriate activities;
- Assist the center team daily with center recordkeeping in compliance with ECEAP policies and procedures;
- Monitor children in the classroom, on the playground and during filed trips ensuring their safety at all times;
- Handle medical emergencies and administer prescribed medication and first aid according to the child's health care plan for life threatening conditions
- Help to complete developmental screenings, assessments and individualized planning according to program timelines;
- Assist the Lead Teacher in conducting parent/teacher conferences;
- Ensure that parents feel welcome and valued in the classroom;
- Encourage parents to participate in classroom and program activities;
- Participate in program trainings and professional development activities;
- May direct the work of aides and volunteers as requested by the Lead Teacher;
- Perform duties of the Lead Teacher in their absence;
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the job description.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and/or understanding of:
- Early childhood education (birth-to-five) including developmentally appropriate practices, assessment, maintaining a classroom environment, classroom routines and positive classroom management;
- Microsoft Office Software, Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:
- Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) in Early Childhood Education (ECE) awarded by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition, or an ECE certification equivalent to a CDA
- Two (2) year of experience in an early childhood program.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field;
