About the State Fair of Texas
Since its inception in 1886, the State Fair of Texas has celebrated all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment. The State Fair of Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with proceeds helping to preserve and improve our home, Fair Park; underwrite museums, community initiatives, and scholarship programs to support students throughout the Lone Star State pursuing higher education; and help improve State Fair operations.
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for preparing sellers’ cash drawers, distributing of cash drawers, receiving cash drawers at end of day, and counting and verifying with the seller the amount of money turned in for that seller.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:

Perform the initial and daily preparation for the cash drawers given to sellers.

Audits money received from the main bank daily against cash distributed to sellers.

Verifies seller’s identity and issues cash drawer.

Audits seller’s cash drawer after the seller has returned cash drawer to the bank.

Counts and verifies each cash receipt issued to the seller from cash collectors to the seller’s agreement.

Counts and verifies each denomination of bills and coin change, to seller’s agreement.

files each seller’s cash total documents
Marginal Functions:

Assist sellers count their cash drawer prior to turning in cash to the bank.

Ensures a safe and secure environment within the bank area.

Assist with other tasks associated with the distribution of coupons from the coupon sales office as needed.

Perform other miscellaneous ad-hoc office tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Understanding and alignment with the core values of the State Fair of Texas.
Modern office procedures

Cash and Coins (New, Used, and Foreign)
Calculators
Cash Counting Machines
Ability to:
Accurately count cash and coins.
Communicate with all Coupon Sales staff in a positive and courteous manner.
Pay attention to details and handle multiple tasks.
Maintain a neat and friendly appearance.
Keep all areas safe, clean, and secure.
Adhere to and enforce all rules and regulations found in the employee handbook.
EXPERIENCE and TRAINING GUIDELINES
Any combination of experience that would likely provide the required knowledge is qualifying.
High School Diploma or GED
Required to attend bi-annual Golf Cart/Scooter class.
Required to attend Annual SFT Safety Training
Previous experience working with large sums of money preferred.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or higher level of education.
Oral and written communication.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED and EXERCISED
Reports to Coupon Sales Manager and Bank Manager
Work independently with minimal supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:
Work in a confined space
Working outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven and/or slippery surfaces, as necessary, especially during Fair time and special events.
Physical Conditions:
Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.
Moving short and long distances to access office supplies, meet guests, perform duties within Fairgrounds, etc.
Occasionally lift objects no more than 25 pounds unassisted.
Work Schedules:
Varies depending on events.
