Reports To: Supervisor/Assistant Store Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Summary
This position provides outstanding customer service through positive interactions with customers and by providing an in-depth knowledge of store product and placement. This position is also responsible for sales and maintaining an accurate cash count, as well as stocking product, keeping the sales area clean and participating in sales promotions.
Essential Duties
- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service; Greet and welcome customers as they enter the store in a professional, friendly manner; Help customers to locate merchandise and process special orders
- Answer phone calls and customer questions in a pleasant and helpful manner
- Learn and follow all store policies and procedures
- Use cash register efficiently to ring up sales correctly and maintain an accurate cash count
- Issue receipts and accurate change to customers; Provide customer refunds and credits as necessary with supervisor’s approval; always thank customers for their purchase
- Maintain a clean, orderly appearance of the register and sales areas: this includes but is not limited to dusting products and shelves, relocating items that are misplaced, cleaning and organizing coolers, sanitizing bathrooms and food and drink equipment, cleaning gasoline islands and pumps and checking for trash
- Keep your product area organized with merchandise fronted properly; monitor and report any missing product tags or bin labels
- Stock the shelves in your sales area from the receiving area; Report accurate counts as required; Correctly price and label store items and store back-stock appropriately; you must always know where your back-stock is kept
- Restock empty shelf space
- Report any broken equipment to your station manager
- Replace out-of-date stock off the shelves and store in backroom
- Learn, communicate to customers, and participate in all current sales promotions and advertisements
- Assist in the development of other Sales Associates
- Assist with the processing of new shipments and help keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized
- Learn and maintain awareness of all safety requirements; respond as required
- Report any shoplifting activity to the floor manager
- Load and unload customer merchandise/orders
- Perform other duties as required

- 100% customer satisfaction
- Cash count accuracy
- Reports to work every day on time and ready to work
- Register and sales area is clean, well-organized and well-stocked on a daily basis
- Has a thorough knowledge of store products and placement
- Assist team in maintaining a 95% or better on image inspections for the store

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Some college preferred
- Retail, cashier, or sales experience preferred
- Experience with retail computer systems, electronic cash register
- Knowledge of MS Word and Excel a plus

- Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, map or schedule format.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret safety instructions and materials.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers and the general public.
- Ability to learn new procedures.

- Ability to calculate figures basic math including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication, and apply the concepts of discounts, and percentages.
