JOB TITLE: Medical Assistant for Physician Orders
JOB STATUS: Full-time
LOCATION: Glendale, CA
Cordial Healthcare Providers is currently seeking to hire a full-time Physician Order Entry Specialist. We are looking for applicants with outstanding customer service skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for medication orders and refills, laboratory/diagnostic test orders, DME/supply orders and other requests from Home Health agencies.
- Responsible for Referral orders.
- Carry out orders as instructed by Physicians, NPs or PAs.
- Assures computer data entry for each patient is accurate and complete.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates customer service excellence consistently by answering phone calls in a prompt and courteous manner. Able to answer questions and concerns and coordinate incoming calls related to physician orders, progress notes/charts, patients, referrals and other inquiries.
- Effective communication with Home Health agencies, patients, Physicians/NPs/PAs, other staff, and companies we work with.
- Maintains a comfortable, safe and positive work environment for all employees.
- Conforms to all company policies and procedures.
- Maintains patient confidentiality. Ensures patient's right to privacy, safety and confidentiality are maintained in accordance with HIPPA regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Nursing/LVN graduate is preferred. Pharmacy Technician or Medical Assistant certification and/or experience is a plus.
- 1 year of administrative/clerical experience in a medical setting is a plus.
- Must be able to communicate with providers-Physicians, NPs and PAs effectively. Must understand and carry out physician orders effectively and efficiently.
- Previous experience entering orders such as in the clinic, mobile medical group or working for Home Health agency is preferred.
- Knowledgeable of basic computer skills/ software- Excel, Microsoft word, Adobe Acrobat and the ability to learn electronic medical records.
- Must be able to speak English proficiently both written and verbal.
- Bilingual is a plus.
- Positive team player and ability to excel with strong attention to detail, high level of accuracy and ensuring patient safety.
- Strong analytical, prioritizing, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Schedule
Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
