Join Al-Corn's family as a Maintenance Technician where safety, environmental stewardship and continuous learning are at our core. Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the safe and efficient execution of preventative maintenance programs, planned and unplanned equipment repairs, and are responsible for the operational reliability of equipment, rolling stock, and the overall facility. Maintenance Technicians are also expected to follow Energy Control(ECP) and other safe work procedures - hot work, confined space and line break.
Al-Corn operates 24/7 all year long. The Maintenance Technician position schedule is 4 days/week(M-Th), 10 hour shifts. Participation in the on-call program and occasional scheduled and unscheduled overtime are also required.
During a typical day you will:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and planned or unplanned repairs using skills and knowledge of the craft trades
- Appropriately inspect and operate all equipment and machinery as necessary including forklifts, telehandlers, and skid loaders safely
- Interpretation of blueprints, manufacturer’s manuals or similar documents
- Determine methods and materials needed to complete assignments
- Comply with relevant safety regulations and policies in the execution of all job tasks
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs
- Be available for overtime or call-in as required
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and report on electrical, piping, and mechanical issues
- Perform welding, cutting, grinding, fabrication on plant equipment
- Work with external contractors to install and repair equipment
- Communicate verbally and in writing to coordinate with team members and other departments to safely execute maintenance repair work
- Access the CMMS(Mapcon) to enter new work orders, notes on work performed, order materials
- Other duties as assigned
Competencies/Preferred Job Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree or technical degree/certification; millwright, electrician, welder, pipe-fitter or Instrumentation preferred
- 1+ years experience in maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; pumps, valves, compressors, electrical or instrumentation required
- Ability to use a variety of tools from hammers, wrenches, to blowtorches and more
- Welding knowledge and experience on carbon / stainless steel preferred
- Troubleshooting skills to be able to follow a problem to the source and solve the issue
- Ability to read material safety data sheets (MSDS) and ready chemical labels
- Experience with computerized maintenance management software(CMMS) preferred
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software applications
- Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job
The employee is frequently exposed to odors, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme outside weather conditions including wet, cold and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to noisy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, turning, reaching, climbing and balancing. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 60 pounds. The employee must also be able to work at heights and in confined spaces. He employee must be able to drive a mechanical vehicle. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
