Job Title: Recycling Program Manager

Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to lead our Recycling Program at UVA Health. As the Recycling Program Manager you will play a crucial role in promoting sustainability initiatives, managing recycling efforts, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within our organization.
Program Management and Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of the hospital system's Recycling Program, including:
- Bin Placement Optimization: Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to strategically place recycling bins throughout the hospital system. Seek feedback from customers to ensure optimal placement for their workflow and convenience.
- Customer Feedback Management: Actively solicit feedback from hospital staff and visitors regarding the Recycling Program. Utilize this feedback to continuously improve recycling processes and enhance the overall experience for users.
- Staff Education and Training: Develop and implement training program to educate hospital staff on proper recycling practices, including sorting guidelines and waste reduction strategies.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards for recycling and waste management. Maintain accurate records and prepare regular reports on recycling metrics and program performance.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with recycling vendors and contractors to coordinate pickups, manage inventory (bags, bins, etc), and optimize recycling processes.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Identify opportunities for expanding sustainability efforts beyond recycling, such as composting programs or energy-saving initiatives. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop plans to implement these initiatives effectively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Management, or previous experience in waste management, recycling programs, or sustainability initiatives is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and educate diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with local regulations and best practices in recycling and waste management.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
