Summary:
The Psychology Department at Grand Valley State University invites applicants for one, one-year Visiting Professor position for the 2024-2025 academic year. Successful candidates will teach 4 undergraduate classes per semester and will have primary teaching responsibility in the area of Developmental Psychology. All candidates should have the ability to also teach Research Methods classes and Introductory Psychology as needed. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. or be near completion of a Ph.D. in psychology or related field. This is a full-time, academic-year, visiting position, with a one-year initial appointment. There is a possibility, but not a guarantee, that the position will continue beyond one year. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates from underrepresented groups, and from candidates who have interest and/or experience in working with diverse student and community populations. The successful candidate should also have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications and Education:
· Graduate level coursework in the areas in which the candidate will teach
· Experience in, demonstrated understanding of, or interest in social justice education and/or initiatives, and/or inclusion, diversity, and/or intercultural training.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect and empathy.
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
· Masters or Ph.D. in the area in which the candidate will teach
· Demonstrated success in teaching undergraduate students.
Salary/Benefits
Salary for the Visitor position is $50,000 for a 9-month contract. Department/College: GVSU has a large and diverse group of 39 full-time psychology faculty members who engage in teaching and research in all areas of psychological science. The Visiting Professor will have access to shared laboratory facilities and equipment and an undergraduate subject pool, should they want to continue their research or collaborate with other faculty or students.
