REGISTERED NURSE - FULL TIME: A successful, fast-paced medical practice (immediate care and primary care) located in the Loop, looking for a talented, positive-spirited Registered Nurse with broad outpatient knowledge. The RN will strive to optimize patient outcomes, deliver quality direct patient care, phone triage, complete administrative projects relevant to growth and diversification, and maximize patient satisfaction.
This position has a steep learning curve, as the RN Team functions at a very high level. Reliability is a necessary requirement.
Key prerequisites: Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), flexibility, attention to detail, quick learner, team player, superior efficiency, and adherence to attendance policy.
Duties include:
· Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Medical Directors, Practice Managers, and Nurse Manager
Main RN Duties:
- Collaborate with providers to review and interpret lab and imaging reports in order to plan and implement patient care recommendations and optimize patient outcomes
- Utilize ASCCP, Up To Date, Epocrates
- Contact patients with their results and recommendations via phone or portal message
- Deliver direct patient care including, but not limited to, medication and vaccine administration, IV placement, phlebotomy (if trained), assist in procedures, and supervise male providers during gynecological & breast exams
- Address all refill requests including patient portal messages, requests received via phone, and faxed refill requests from pharmacies
- Determine whether a refill is appropriate based on visit history and nature of medication
- Access ILPMP and ensure ILPMP reports are available for providers to review when a controlled medication is requested
- Prepare controlled prescriptions for provider sign off
- Report sexually transmitted infections to the department of public health including HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia
- Report communicable diseases per public health requirements (i.e. COVID-19, Lyme disease, chickenpox)
- Triage patient phone calls
- Provide patient education on therapeutic lifestyle changes for chronic illness
- Calculate ASCVD risk for all patients over 40 with lipid panels ordered
- Ensure medication and medical history are up to date for each patient
- Contact providers outside or normal business hours as needed for any emergent patient situations
- Review all test results to ensure provider orders for patients are entered and acknowledged in the Medical Record
- Determine whether add on testing is appropriate based on initial lab results and abnormalities
- Assist support staff with clinical and administrative questions throughout shift
- Care coordination (home health, mental health, STAT specialist appointments, sending patients to the emergency department)
Minimum Degree Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
