QUALITY TECHNICIAN / Quality Assurance Technician
** position is located in SPRINGFIELD, OH **
Summary
Perform necessary tasks related to New Model / Mid-Model Quality Engineering to include; sort of new model product for trials and safe launch, creation of required documentation, scheduling and other necessary tasks.
Must be willing to travel to support other TAC - Topre America Corporation locations as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
- Attend required Program Management meetings.
- Develop schedules related to Quality functions determined therein.
- Create sort sheets and other documentation required for receipt of new model/mid-model product.
- Receive, stage, unpack, sort and repack new model/mid-model product.\
- Organize, train, conduct and close-out safe launch sort of new model / mid-model product.
- Create sample parts and other items required for new model / mid-model launch.
- Maintain sort records of all product sorted.
- Meet deadlines related to new model / mid-model product as determined by program management and QA.
- Interpret and understand CMM, Scan and other Quality data in order to provide feedback and other correspondence related to product quality.
- Understand customer expectations related to specific product being produced.
- Work with Quality Engineer and Quality Manager to ensure all potential concerns related to product have been considered and counter measured
- Schedule and participate in Poka Yoke Standard Test List reviews (initial and final).
Follow-up on open items found during Poka Yoke Standard Test List reviews.
- Assist with the implementation of process improvements/poka yoke developments required to remove product from safe launch sort.
- Report status of activity daily during plant morning meetings and other program related meetings.
- Travel to other TAC locations to support new model/mid-model activity as needed.
- Create Quality Check Sheets for both press and assembly product.
- Retrieve parts from specific production Assembly cells per schedule to ensure the welds meet Topre and Customer requirements
- Conduct UT tests of specified resistance welded components to validate the resistance weld integrity
- Conduct Hammer Destructs of specified resistance welded components to validate the resistance weld integrity
- Conduct Cut/Etch testing or other specific testing of arc welds or other weld types.
- Conduct Air Chisel Destructs of specified resistance welded components to validate the resistance weld integrity
- Conduct push out tests of projection welded nuts and studs to verify weld adhesion.
- Document and communicate test results with Manufacturing, QA, and Management
- Ability to perform and train other associates on all Quality Inspection Standards.
- Perform LMI testing per customer requirement and specification according to pre-developed schedules.
- Save and record LMI testing results per Topre and customer standards.
- Perform LME (Liquid Metal Embrittlement) checks on parts as required by customer.
- Perform inspection of welds with microscope to confirm LME welds meet required spec.
- Perform cut checks with cutting wheel in order to cross section an LME weld.
- Save and organize LME data on local server so it is easily retrievable and historically saved.
- Be able to clearly communicate the events from each shift and send out detailed turnover daily.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment (5s)
- Perform daily audits of processes to ensure policy/procedure is being followed.
- Evaluate quality concerns and make educated decisions based off of company and customer expectations.
- Create and issue Quality Alerts for substandard conditions/quality or failures to follow policy/procedure.
- Perform customer required Inspection Reports accurately and completely per pre-developed schedules.
- Perform containment of suspect product completely and accurately per Topre standard.
- Record sort results and other details accurately for tracking and reporting.
- Perform calibrations of inspection tools and inspection fixtures (checking fixtures/gauges) accurately and per pre-developed schedules.
- Perform sorts, develop sort criteria and train others for sorts per Topre standard.
- Perform all other related tasks requested by Quality Supervisor, Quality Engineer or superior.
- Certified fork lift operator.
- Participate in Kaizen activity for improvement of processes, quality or other KPI’s.
- Ability to read Scale, Taper Gauge, Calipers (digital and manual), Micrometers (digital and manual), Height Gauge and other measurement devices.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage sort personnel and sort activity.

Qualifications
- Previous Quality experience (preferred),
- Strong communication skills,
- Knowledge of, and / or ability to easily learn Topre America Policies and Procedures.
- Understanding of sort and “complete containment”,
- Basic PC skills with the ability to become advanced
- Follow and Meet Topre America attendance and point requirements.
Education and / or Experience
Previous Quality Assurance experience or Related Skills preferred
Language Skills
MUST be able to read and interpret English documents; such as training, safety rules, operating - maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts using basic math
Computer Skills
Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook(email), Power Point
Other Skills and Abilities
- Mechanical knowledge (preferred but not required)
- Process Improvement (preferred but not required) this is a plus
Other Qualifications
