Summary:
Responsible for the design, construction document preparation, construction, and observation of construction projects. Accountable to meet and discuss with clients their project requirements. Additionally, you will need to have enhanced communication skills, heightened design capability and improved document execution. As a Senior Project Architect, you must possess the ability to develop your own projects as well as oversee the work of multiple projects simultaneously. This is a leadership role that requires oversight, guidance and mentoring of others.
Responsibilities
· May be responsible for the review and sealing of their projects or the work of the others.
· Interpretation of sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material.
· Utilization of AutoCAD technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
· Prepare and revise documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, details, electrical sheets and plumbing.
· Interpret and apply building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
· Coordinate building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical) and associated documentation.
· Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, may issue ASIs and change orders, process pay apps and other contract administration tasks.
· Evaluate building design using sustainable design principles.
· Lead project coordination and site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
· Conduct value engineering and basic cost estimating.
· Coordinate specifications with building plans and specifications writer
· Recommendation and selection of building systems and materials.
· Conduct site analysis including geotechnical, hydrological, environmental, social, and economic conditions.
· Conduct constructability review.
· Conduct bidding and negotiation phase.
· Coordinate consultants.
· Participate in the development and negotiation of contracts with owners, contractors, and consultants.
· Participate in the evaluation of the quality and progress of consultants’ work.
· Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects under other’s control.
· Assist in preparation of project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.
Skills:
· Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
· Ability to apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity.
· Detailed understanding of all phases of architectural document production.
· Detailed knowledge of building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards.
· Strong experience with modeling/drafting software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD).
· Strong experience with general software (Newforma Project Center, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
· Strong understanding of the relationship between drawings and specifications.
· Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of architectural document production.
· Ability to check work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage team to meet project budget and schedule.
Qualifications:
· Degree in support of an Architectural license required (accredited master's degree or 5-year bachelor's degree).
· Architectural license is required.
· Ability to meet NCARB requirements for licensure in other states required.
· Minimum 5 years of experience.
