Job Title: Intake Coordinator
Team: Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP)
Location: Chicago, IL
Compensation: $45k Starting Annual Salary with benefits
Purpose: America Works of Illinois, a socially conscious company, is seeking an Intake Coordinator for a program providing case management, housing assistance, and job placement services to veterans of the U.S. Military experience homelessness and housing instability. The ideal candidate is capable of conducting outreach to homeless shelters, meeting 1x1 with unhoused veterans to complete intake documentation, and assisting with general office tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct intake, eligibility screening, and job readiness assessments with veterans experiencing homelessness or housing instability
- Develop individualized plans to help veterans become job-ready, including resume preparation, mock interviewing, and barrier removal
- Conduct outreach and informational sessions at homeless shelters, community centers, and similar locations to identify and enroll eligible clients
- Oversee barrier removal before and after job placement, ensuring the participant has the resources and support they need to obtain and retain employment (i.e. housing, clothing, healthcare, childcare, etc.)
- Regularly meet with participants in-person or over phone/video to ensure program participants are continually progressing towards their professional, personal, and academic goals
- Work closely with the job developer to place veterans in open opportunities with employer partners
- Maintain detailed case notes, update attendance logs, submit weekly reports, and other administrative tasks on a timely basis
- Help the program meet weekly, quarterly, and annual enrollment and job placement numbers
- Model professionalism and inclusiveness, cultivate a safe environment for career development, and motivated clients to find full-time employment
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 4-year degree, relevant experience and/or advanced studies a plus
- One to three (1-3) years of experience working with individuals in a workforce development, social services, or community-based context
- Must have access to private vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
- Experience developing individualized service and/or employment plans for participants preferred
- Experience working with military veterans and/or individuals experiencing homelessness preferred
- Understanding of workforce development, employment services, and case management a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint preferred
- Strong communication skills, professional demeanor, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills
- Experience and/or passion for serving individuals from disadvantaged and underserved populations, including but not limited to public assistance recipients, justice-involved individuals, persons with physical and/or mental disabilities, and individuals experiencing homelessness
