RN PRACTICE OFFICE-ONCOLOGY NURSE for the Medical Hematology / Oncology Clinic with the Cancer Center - The practice nurse in the clinic acts as a link between patients and care providers to assist patients/families/caregivers and facilitate patient care.
Works closely with physician, infusion staff, clinic staff, radiation staff, and other disciplines and/or external resources to coordinate patient care and follow patient throughout the care continuum. Manages telephone calls from patients and families: triages patient calls, assesses the clinical problem, and implements a plan related to patient need. Facilitates referrals to appropriate disciplines or services (internally or externally), including but not limited to home care services and transitions to palliative care or hospice in collaboration with the cancer care team.
- RN provides to support the practice office and physicians
- Responsible for phone triage, symptom management, and overall coordination of care.
Required Work Experience:
- MA RN License, BSN and CPR required.
- OCN Certification strongly preferred or obtain within 18 months of hire.
- 3 years of acute care nursing experience required.
- Oncology experience and knowledge of oncology care, protocols is required
Experience:
- MA RN License and BLS CPR Required.
- OCN Certification strongly preferred or must obtain within 18 months of hire.
- BSN and 3-5 years of acute care nursing experience required. For candidates without a BSN- Must have 7 years acute care experience
- Oncology experience and knowledge of oncology care, protocols, knowledge of chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, IV therapy and related supportive measures strongly preferred.
Schedule & Location
- Location - D ’Amour Center for Cancer Care- 3350 Main Street.
- Full Time - 36 hours working 4- 9 hours shifts Monday -Friday- No Weekends / holidays.
