LM Catering & Events include the Back of House operation at Hilton Orrington-Evanston, City View Loft, Kitchen Chicago, Lacuna Events by LM, LM Studio, and Twenty-Six Event venue and Sky on Nine.

Grant Park Bistro is an American bistro focusing on approachable contemporary dishes.
The menu highlights dishes made with fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. The beverage program focuses on local and regional products given the restaurants commitment to limit their carbon footprint. Diners can expect to find an affordable selection of unique American made wines, a variety of local beers and craft cocktails. The spacious bar area is perfect for enjoying cocktails and dinner after a day exploring the city and the private dining space with views of the open kitchen is ideal for intimate special events. In the warmer months guests can enjoy the large patio along Michigan Ave. The bistro is currently open daily for breakfast and lunch and dinner. Happy hour specials are available Sunday-Thursday, and the popular mimosa brunch deal is offered daily.
What will I be doing?
Grant Park Bistro is looking to hire an experienced Chef De Cuisine to join our team. The primary focus of this position will be to lead our back of house team in staying true to our brand in delivering and exceeding guest expectations. Ideal candidates will bring a true passion for cooking and strong leadership skills. This position will also be responsible for overseeing effective kitchen operations for one of our Bistro Operations. Their duties include but are not limited to;
- production and execution of menu items; staff interviews, training, and development.
- Food ordering; understanding costs and waste including forecasting and staying within budget.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written, are vital for this position as they will need to regularly work closely with upper management, restaurant management, and hourly employees both in the FOH and BOH.
Essential Functions:
- Daily hands-on production and training of staff within the restaurant
- Ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction, operational standards, and quality of products
- Full understanding of Chicago Health Department Sanitation guidelines
- Ability to work all stations in kitchen including set up and break down of equipment and maintaining appropriate levels of food preparation.
- Master the full menu to train staff on proper presentation, portioning, allergens, and quality standards.
- Properly prepare and store food to ensure quality and freshness.
- Ensure all employees are being treated fairly and with respect.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude.
What qualifications do I need?
- 5+ year of Kitchen Management or 3 years of Lead Line cook experience in a high- volume scratch-based restaurant.
Computer Skills:
- Ability to utilize computer software and hardware required.
- Ability to easily use computer keyboard and accessories.
- Ability to learn, utilize and communicate effectible via company issued communication devices (e.g., laptops, phones, etc.). Problem solving and analytical skills.
Communication:
- Advanced ability to comprehend and speak English to understand and respond to information and address advanced requests from owners and guests alike both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of additional languages (Spanish) preferred.
Other:
- Must be customer-service oriented and have excellent hospitality skills.
- Must be able to calculate basic Mathematic functions.
- Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
