Metro Infectious Disease Consultants is seeking an Infusion Intake Nurse (Antibiotics) to work in the corporate location of Burr Ridge, IL. This RN will not be patient facing at any time.
Under the supervision of the VP of Clinical Operations, the Infusion Intake Nurse provides clinical nursing services and support, including patient education and patient management for their assigned group of physicians. The nurse works within a team to promote a collaborative process which assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates infusions of biologic products of Metro Infectious Disease Consultants and provides administrative services to meet a patient’s infusion needs.
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday- Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm
Duties:
- Take infusion referrals from physician, complete referral forms, and certificates of medical necessity
- Performs as patient advocate between the field staff, physician, other disciplines, referral resources and other involved agencies
- Prescribe prescriptions at doctor’s order and communicate to pharmacies
- Receive and return patient and other’s telephone calls
- Participate in quality assurance and educational activities as requested
- Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs
- Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications.
- Supports professional practice by observing the following: Uses knowledge and practices in accordance with 1) Standards of Nursing Practice; 2) Standards of Patient Care; 3)State and local laws; 4) MIDC policy
- Take turn in the practice, responding to telephone calls, scheduling patients to come to the office as needed
- Other duties and tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, and current RN license (BSN preferred),
- Two years in infusion office practice/facility experience
- Case management and home care experience is preferred
- Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19.
