Job Description Summary
The HIM Indexing & Quality Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of patient information by accurate and timely indexing/scanning documents into the electronic health records and performs quality checks to ensure documents are being scanned accurately. Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm. Weekend and Holiday rotation
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, reviews medical records to ensure that records are complete, and all appropriate documentation is present.

Reviews and processes request for information, scans documents accurately into EHR, assist internal and external customers and understands State/Federal laws pertaining to confidentiality and releasing protected health information.

Responsible for processing requests for information and maintaining confidentiality by adhering to state/federal laws and health system policies.

Performs a variety of duties for the Health Information Management Department to ensure records are complete and all appropriate documentation is present.
Education/Experience:

High School or GED, College Degree
-
AHIMA credentials RHIA/RHIT preferred

Experience with Scanning preferred

Experience with Release of Information preferred

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe) preferred

Ability to work independently, as well as, in a team setting with internal and external constituents.
