DEQ is currently hiring four (4) positions to join our Waste Management Bureau. Consider being part of a progressive team of environmental professionals that help prevent pollution of our air, water, and soil. We take on unique challenges that require curiosity, technical expertise, and regulatory understanding. You have the opportunity to work within one of the following areas:
- Asbestos Control & Methamphetamine Cleanup
- Hazardous Waste Management
- Recycling and Materials Management
- Solid Waste Management Program
Essential functions of these positions include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing permit applications and issuing permits
- Evaluating and approving groundwater, soil, and remediation work plans and reports
- Inspecting facilities and completing inspection reports
- Providing compliance assistance to the regulated community and public
- Providing education and outreach

Minimum requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-based discipline.
- 1 to 5 years of job-related experience in environmental resource protection and regulation, or in a related scientific profession.
- Current valid Driver’s License and clean driving record in accordance with State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy.
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis. A training assignment may be considered depending upon experience.

Salary: $ 56,680.00 - 75,920.00 Yearly
