Overview:
As an Event Venue Accountant, you will play a vital role in the financial management and operations of our TWO of our esteemed Event Venues. You will be responsible for overseeing all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making. Your meticulous attention to detail and proficiency in financial software will contribute to the success and growth of our business.
Responsibilities:
- Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliation of bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies. Investigate and resolve any variances or discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Payroll Processing: Manage the full cycle of payroll processing for employees, including collecting timesheets, calculating hours worked, and verifying accuracy of data. Processing in a timely manner, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on schedule. Review and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy of deductions, benefits, and taxes.
- Quickbooks: Oversee the effective utilization of QuickBooks software to facilitate efficient financial management and reporting. Your role involves maintaining and optimizing QuickBooks functionality to ensure accurate recording, tracking, and reporting of financial data.
- W-2: Accurate and timely distribution of W-2 forms to employees and ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
- Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the wedding venue, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with management to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor budget performance and provide regular reports highlighting variances and areas for improvement.
- Expense Management: Review and approve vendor invoices, track expenses, and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments. Implement cost-saving measures where applicable.
- Revenue Tracking: Record and analyze revenue streams from wedding bookings, catering services, and other revenue-generating activities. Identify trends and opportunities to maximize profitability.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards. Present financial reports to management and provide explanations for any discrepancies or anomalies.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations. Prepare and file tax returns, including sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax filings.
- Audit Support: Facilitate internal and external audits by providing documentation, responding to inquiries, and implementing audit recommendations as necessary.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning initiatives. Evaluate the financial impact of potential investments, pricing strategies, and business expansion opportunities.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and streamline accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Implement best practices and leverage technology solutions to enhance productivity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or relevant professional certification preferred.
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in the hospitality or events industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
