Job Summary
This position serves as a technical resource with the specific purpose of improvements to the production operations. Focus points for this position to include scrap reduction, automation, and labor reduction.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Identify and develop strategies to improve low margin products and/or assemblies.
- Research, benchmark, simulate, and implement best manufacturing methods, practices and systems.
- Continually evaluate and develop manufacturing methods to eliminate waste and thereby improve product quality, lead-time, cost, and safety.
- Develop and maintain plant and facilities layout to optimize workflow.
- Implement measurable scrap reducing improvements throughout all phases of production.
- Serve as the resident expert and main point of contact for all robotics and part automation initiatives.
- Serve as the direct resource for process and manufacturing engineering to design and implement equipment, processes and procedures for all technology-based production applications. Interface with engineering support to communicate status of projects in process.
- Actively participate in the company's Continuous Improvement team.
- Review and update the status of past improvements that are running to verify effectiveness and training.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
- Take full ownership of all facility IT duties with direction from the corporate office as needed.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Software programs.
- Knowledge of CAD Software preferred.
- Previous experience in a high technology manufacturing facility.
Required Skills
- Ability to work under time constraints with changing priorities Working knowledge of electronics, electromechanical, machinery, robotics, and auxiliary equipment with computer or Pro Logic Control (PLC) interfaces.
- Ability to install and write necessary programs for PLC based robotic machinery.
- Light machining and fabrication skills needed to design and build automation fixtures, End of Arm Tooling for press robots and auxiliary equipment for secondary operations.
- Strong computer hardware and software skills needed to install or up-grade company PC systems, communication systems and security equipment.
- Must be self-directed with the ability to seek out opportunities and build consensus on the best and most technically and economically viable solution.
- Excellent electronic skill base is needed to troubleshoot complex technical challenges with a variety of equipment related to molding, assembly and decorating.
- Ability to use manual and CNC machining tools, mills, lathes, etc.
- Strong written/verbal communication
- Good decision-making skills
- Experience using a PC including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet.
The pay range for this position is DOE but can range from $50k to $60k.
