The Innovation & Business Development Director (IBDD) serves as a vital ally and contributor within the Office of Impact and Innovation (IMIN), offering expertise on digital modernization and product design initiatives and strategies to foster the innovation landscape at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM). Devoting their time under the guidance of the Vice President for Impact and Innovation/Chief Innovation Officer, the IBDD embodies the pinnacle of excellence, integrity, proactive behavior, and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and civility, while aligning with MSM’s core values and objectives. This role demands a customer-focused approach, flexibility, and a dedication to dismantling operational silos throughout the School, integrating an equity perspective into all of MSM’s endeavors, particularly in innovation, focusing on cultural shifts and personnel development. Responsibilities include ensuring seamless and effective operations school-wide, preemptively addressing issues and resolving them as they arise, and contributing to MSM’s growth through strategic planning and engagement, drawing insights from current trends in higher education, medicine, and public health sectors.
The IBDD boasts a proven track record of entrepreneurial success in both corporate and private sectors, marked by a data-driven mindset, technical acumen, and proficiency in generative artificial intelligence, virtual/augmented reality, and other emerging technologies positioned to improve healthcare. With a strong inclination towards collaboration, the IBDD adeptly coordinates and aligns various projects within the institution and beyond, employing a systemic approach to lean change management and fostering partnerships within IMIN to spearhead transformation within MSM’s innovation ecosystem. This role is pivotal, acting as a bridge for professionals in transition to explore new opportunities, thus offering a platform for professional growth. Furthermore, the IBDD will engage with diverse stakeholders across the School, the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC), and external academic, corporate, community, and practice leaders, as well as a range of organizations in the private and public sectors.

Oversee a portfolio of innovation projects, applying rigorous project and product management methodologies to ensure timely delivery, relevance, and impact.
