The Staff Writer and Social Media Coordinator assists in advancing the mission of the Miami Design Preservation League through our marketing and public relations initiatives.
Applicant must be able to work in person in Miami Beach. Pay rate is $26.25 at 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day (plus 30 minutes unpaid lunch) x 5 days per week).
- Manage MDPL blog including writing blog posts in collaboration with MDPL stakeholders including the Executive Director, archivists, tour guides, among others (Visit mdpl.org/blog to see article examples)
- Managing the online cultural events calendar highlighting Cultural Anchors and Partner institutions (see mdpl.org/events). This will include monitoring event listings and adding them to the calendar through our Wordpress website - including event title, photos, organizer information, descriptions, etc
- Share news and press mentions about Miami Beach / Art Deco / MDPL
- Respond to TripAdvisor, Viator, other reviews
- Prepare Marketing Reports for the Executive Director / Board
- Manage social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc)
- Weekly E-Newsletter preparation and distribution
- Membership Marketing
- other items as needed
Skills Needed:
- A strong passion for design, architecture, and historic preservation and for writing and sharing
- Mailchimp or other Email marketing experience
- Copywriting
- Mail merge / direct mail
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint proficiency
- Youtube
- Basic HTML/Wordpress
- Basic Adobe Photoshop, Intermediate/Advanced Canva preferred
- Facebook Pages
- Experience with E-Commerce
- Fluency in English, Written and Oral
- Spanish speaking / writing skills a plus
