DEFINITION: Reporting to the High School Principal and the Director of Special Ed the Special Education Team Chairpeson's role is to assist teachers and administration, subject to Special Education Laws, with the educational development of children with special education accommodations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. 1.Licensure Status is current and reflects "Licensed" Special Education Educator, School Psychologist, or Special Education Administrator.2.Ensure the IEP process is compliant with regulatory standards regarding timelines, are written to reflect best practices, and reflects high-quality programming that is implemented with integrity. Maintain compliance with all Special Education timelines and regulations.
3.Communicate with students, parents/caregivers, staff and administration regarding program development. 4.Facilitate all IEP team meetings, ensure Team member attendance, and provide meeting summaries. 5.Construct sections of IEP, in coordination with Special Education liaisons and ensure they meet the required criteria.6.Work with teams to develop and implement efficient and effective programs and service delivery models reflecting the best practices. 7.Oversee the transition of IEPs from sending districts for incoming grade 9 and transfer students.
8.Coordination of required transitional paperwork, including but not limited to Age of Majority, Transfer of Parental Rights, MRC referral and the Chapter 688 referral process. 9.Maintain data systems, including information collected through the District's E-Sped software, regarding the provision of services for initial referrals and reevaluations, and assist with SIMS state reporting. 10.Serve as a consultant to staff on matters pertaining to the education of students with disabilities. 11.Serve as a case manager/liasion for students with special needs, as needed.
12.Maintain accurate figures on caseload assignments for teachers and support personnel and make recommendations pertaining to maintain adequate staffing needs. 13. Maintain compliance and standards of excellence for professional performance and program development. Keep updated regarding CMR 603 28.00.
14. Collect other information and perform other related duties upon request of the Director of Special Education. 15. Meet regularly with the Director of Special Education for consultation/coordination services.16.
