Description:
Island Hospitality Management is actively seeking a Human Resources and Accounting Manager to perform property-level duties, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, training, accounts payable, union relations, accounts receivable, costing, and payroll.
This position may require flexible scheduling availability.

Onboard new employees by completing the I9 verification process and orientate them with organization-wide tools

Accountable for all Human Resources functions within the hotel

Partner with team members and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations

Carry out recruitment processing, including managing job postings, reaching potential candidates via phone and email, and administering background checks
-
Maintain and review the wage grid for each position ensuring hotel compliance with allowed wages during the hiring process, and making recommendations

Create, update, and maintain employee personnel files, and use approved Personnel Action Notice to communicate any changes to Corporate Payroll Administrators

Successfully coordinate and lead numerous Human Resources events for staff including all hotel orientation and training classes, monthly Team Member Appreciation luncheons, and benefits administration sessions

Coordinate health, dental, disability, and 401(k) enrollments and communicate with service providers regarding questions on team members’ behalf

Investigate, plan, and implement solutions to employee and union relations issues

Ensure hotels remain compliant with all Federal and State labor laws, including, but not limited to: FMLA, FLSA, Worker’s Compensation, I-9 Forms, OSHA, etc.

Handle all accounting functions including, but not limited to: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Costing, and processing Payroll

Manage discretionary budget to meet hotel needs, while maintaining expected profit margins

Coordinate with both Operations and Sales departments to determine key drivers in maximizing hotel performance, and implementing creative solutions to meet budgeted sales goals

Ensure timely payment of Hotel Direct Bill Accounts through regular contact with vendors

Observe cash review and cash management procedures, carry hotel deposits to the bank daily

Manage relationship with union and process union payments/benefits

Responsible for all hotel supply orders

Supervise hotel insurance claims
Job Qualifications:

Ability to research and analyze legislation and legal opinions

Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law

Well-organized with excellent leadership qualities

Experience working with HRIS and payroll software systems

Clear and effective communicator (written and verbal) with strong interpersonal skills

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues

Flexible schedule and ability to support a 24/7 business
