Hilltown Cooperative Charter Public School is a K-8 public school in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Our school features mixed-age classrooms, an emphasis on community building, and hands-on, arts-integrated projects.
Teachers at HCCPS develop and implement curriculum and instruction that is aligned with the school’s educational philosophy and mission in collaboration with administration, other educational staff members, caregivers, and community members. A successful candidate will have a strong background in elementary level core academics, pedagogy, and classroom management, as well as demonstrate a commitment to collaboration, student-centered, project-based learning, and equity and social justice work in schools.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead teacher for approximately 20 2nd and 3rd grade students
- Facilitate the creation of a respectful, safe, and nurturing classroom environment
- Actively work as part of a teaching team to develop and implement an integrated curriculum that is consistent with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
- Create and maintain a physical space for learning that is educationally engaging, and supports the school’s philosophy and objectives
- Ensure that a range of appropriate educational materials and equipment is available to students
- Implement performance-based assessments of students’ learning, and document student work
- Establish a learning environment that is responsive to and supportive of the needs and interests of individual students
- Develop and maintain consistent and timely home-school communication, and good working relationships with students’ caregivers
- Work collaboratively with special education teachers to ensure implementation of all accommodations and modifications outlined in assigned students’ educational plans
- Direct activities related to instruction and preparation for assigned Teaching Assistant(s), and provide support and feedback
