Primary Role:*
The Lead Custodian will oversee and organize the cleaning of buildings, setting up for events, and the moving of furniture and office equipment. They will make sure tasks are finished on time and done properly. They may also manage night cleaning crews, handle supplies, and may fill in as a Custodian when needed.

Professional Responsibilities and Duties*:
- Keep school/building and grounds, including entryways, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and play areas neat and clean
- Plan, coordinate, prepare work schedules, supervise both day and night custodial staff according to District custodial procedures
- Supervise and assist custodial staff using proper techniques with cleaning inside/outside of District buildings which includes: cleaning dusting, and/or vacuuming of floors, carpeting, walls, whiteboards, trash cans, windows, glass, furniture, equipment, and restrooms
- Maintain and supervise proper use of personal protective equipment
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Hazardous Communications Act which includes: training of the staff and emphasizing safety, storing, handling, labeling and application of all chemicals
- Maintain Material safety data records for all chemicals being used at the facility
- Inspect the facility daily for damage; identify and initiate maintenance work orders
- Perform a monthly inventory of supplies and procure supplies for the facility
- Ensure proper storage and usage of all custodial supplies and equipment
- Report all emergency situation and problems, maintenance, and safety concerns to appropriate personnel; take appropriate action to ensure adherence to established guidelines and established procedures in the handling of problems and emergencies
- Maintain a good public relation and communication with coworkers, Principals, Department Heads, and other supervisors
- Perform all other tasks and duties, that may be assigned

Professional Requirements:*
- Knowledge of and skill in the operation of various cleaning equipment and tools
- Knowledge of and skill in safely mixing and applying custodial chemicals
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations as they relate to cleaning and sanitation measures
- Knowledge of and skill in cleaning methods and procedures
- Ability to plan work assignments and set priorities
- Ability to read, understand and apply oral and written instructions and labels
- Ability to work irregular hours or to rotate shifts
Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Five years of experience performing the full range of custodial duties including the operation of hand and power equipment
- Basic computer skills
- Skill in managing personnel and supervising custodial building operations
- Skill in effectively planning and organizing custodial activities
- Skill in cleaning methods and procedures, sanitation, safety, security and building maintenance
- Thorough knowledge of custodial equipment

This role will work Monday through Friday

Compensation and Benefits:*
Compensation for this role is set at an hourly rate ranging between $20.00 for 0 years of experience up to $29.23

Essential Functions:*
Regular and Reliable Attendance.
Physical abilities include but are not limited to physical strength and agility required to operate cleaning, waxing and other equipment, to safely lift and carry furniture, cleaning equipment and bags of trash, and to repeatedly bend, stoop and twist. Ability to climb stairs and ladders. Ability to carry up to 50 pounds; Working conditions include standing and/or walking for long periods of time and potential exposure to body fluids. Ability to work well under pressure, and with minimal supervision. Positions may require the ability to work irregular hours or to rotate shifts.
