Purpose of Position:
The EHS Specialist will provide technical assistance in the development and implementation of Workplace Health & Safety Programs. The EHS Specialists will play a key role at the site level maintaining compliance, incident reporting and analysis process and work closely with supervisors, production & warehouse staff and other stakeholders to develop and implement corrective actions preventing recurrence. The EHS Specialist will promote a culture focused on safety and injury prevention to maintain and implement best practices for a comprehensive EHS Management. We are seeking someone to work onsite at our plant in Duluth, GA.

Assist is supporting all environmental permits and program requirements specific to the site and site ISO 14001 Environmental Management System

Participate in daily safety walks in the plant site

Organize and oversee site safety committee meetings.

Support site supervisors with the investigation of HSE incidents at the site.

Lead investigation process and/or collaborate with appropriate corporate staff on serious incidents. Communicate HSE incidents and corrective actions.

Partner with Human Resources to monitor the status of open Workers Compensation claims and coordinate activities to minimize lost and/or restricted workdays.

Lead follow-up reviews for action items assigned from incidents and risk assessments, while engaging with key stakeholders from assignment through completion and verification of assigned actions to ensure on-time closure.

Communicate all findings, concerns, and deficiencies to responsible management.

Maintains safety library (e.g. videos, regulations, reference manuals).

Assists in the implementation of Hazard Communication program and preparation of applicable environmental reports.

May participate in audit practices and records to ensure compliance with company programs and Federal and State occupational safety and health regulations.

May advises management of regulatory changes.

Lead safety incident investigations, develop root cause analysis, and develop & assign corrective actions. Verify the appropriateness and effectiveness of action plans associated with incidents.

Lead risk assessments such as hazard assessments, ergonomic assessments, etc. as needed to reduce workplace injuries. Verify the appropriateness and effectiveness of action plans associated with assessments.

Routine internal reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual updates).

Conduct safety & OSHA related trainings.

Assist in training new and current employees on safety programs

2+ years of experience in either manufacturing, transportation & logistics, Pharma, energy, mining & utilities related industries.

Bachelor of Science, preferably in safety engineering, risk management, occupational health Industrial or Environmental Engineering, or a related field, and minimum of 5 years previous experience in EHS management; in manufacturing environment (preferably food).

Knowledge of EHS regulations including OSHA, EPA, and local requirements.

Ability to drive process improvements, adhere to budgets, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Strong problem-solving skills

Superior communication and interpersonal skills within all levels of the organization.

Technically proficient in tools such as (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other EHS

Bilingual is Spanish in a plus, but not required.

May be required to travel domestically to various sites up to 10% annually.
