iBRAIN is one of the largest brain-injury special education programs in the world based in New York City (Upper East Side, Manhattan and Sunset Park, Brooklyn) and has expanded to open its third location in Washington D.C. iBRAIN’s mission is to research, develop and implement special education and related services for students with brain injury and brain-based disorders. Join our team of leading experts in the field of rehabilitation and research, as we continue to expand globally to serve the brain injury and brain-based disorders community in school based and outpatient programs.
Due to our continued growth, we are hiring two Special Education teachers, one for our Manhattan campus and one for our Brooklyn campus.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary/inter-disciplinary team including each student’s therapy team of speech therapists, physical therapists, and teachers of the visually impaired
- Prepare Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s) and quarterly progress reports, and participate in IEP meetings
- Participate in research initiatives and quarterly Grand Round Presentations
- Employ appropriate assessment tools/metrics to assess students, identify goals and measure progress
- Properly document all sessions daily on iBRAIN’s electronic database
- Utilize a multi-sensory approach incorporating art, music and technology to design lessons that increase students’ communication, social, academic, vocational, self-care and life skills
- Oversee a classroom of 6 to 8 school-aged children with brain injuries
- Prepare lesson plans and implement differentiated, direct Instruction to students both individually and in small groups
- Provide direction and supervision to teaching assistants and paraprofessionals in the classroom
- Communicate with parents and involve them in their child’s activities and progress
Minimum Qualifications:
- Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities 1-6, or Early Childhood and Students with Disabilities B-2, or Permanent Special Education Certification Required
- Master’s Degree in Special Education or Related Field Required
- A minimum of 2 years of classroom experience working with children with special needs/brain-based disorders preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, communication skills, along with the ability to take initiative, and a highly flexible personality type
- Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds independently
- Must be detail-oriented, focused, highly motivated, and able to work as part of a team
- Research experience is preferred
- Must be able to pass ALL of the FREE E-learning Short Courses in Clinical Research from The Global Health Training Centre website (https://globalhealthtrainingcentre.tghn.org/elearning/short-courses/)

Job Type: Full-time (100% in-person / no remote or hybrid)
Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year (based on years of experience)
