SUMMARY STATEMENT:
MHVI is looking for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our Nuclear Medicine/PET department at Mercy Hospital - both Mercy and Unity campuses. This position performs SPECT and SPECT/CT general Nuclear Medicine along with SPECT/CT cardiac Nuclear Medicine and cardiac PET/CT.

Essential Functions:
- Safely administers/handles radiopharmaceuticals and adjunctive pharmaceuticals to perform Nuclear Medicine/PET exams and procedures according to established protocols and regulations to provide quality images and patient care in a timely manner.
- Obtain patient history, answer questions and provide the patient with information about the exam/procedures so he/she is comfortable and thoroughly understands the process.
- Accountable for protecting patients’ and coworker’s privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) and Electronic Protected Health Information (EPHI).
- Work with the radiologists and cardiologists, referring clinics and patients to ensure the exam is appropriate and medical records are correct and prepared for the exam/procedure.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is accurate and complete for the reading physician, referring clinic and patient’s medical record.
- Perform camera and equipment maintenance and quality control
- Complies with regulations, accreditation standards, clinic/hospital policies, and radiation safety.
- Maintain competency through continued education involving Nuclear Medicine, PET/Nuclear Cardiology on a regular basis

- Participation in weekend, weeknight, and holiday call rotation as determined by supervisor.
- Other duties may include but are not limited to, training new employees, ordering/stocking supplies, and assisting in other departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Nuclear Medicine Technology or new graduate of an accredited NMT program.
- Registered by Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or Registry eligible
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Knowledge of basic Nuclear Medicine, PET, radiologic principles, procedures, methods, and techniques
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Excellent patient care, organizational, communication, and technical skills
- Competent in using a computer and email.
