Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Education Research Assistant to join our team! In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Education Strategy and conduct research, analysis, and writing in support of HAF’s education and advocacy teams on a range of issues. This is a full-time exempt role.
Essential Duties:
The successful candidate will be able to perform the following duties with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Provide day to day research and analysis support on a range of education topics and projects
- Utilize existing software platforms to track curriculum reform process across multiple states and local school districts and identify opportunities for participation; help craft written comments and submissions as necessary
- Help to create, develop, and update Hinduism teacher training presentations for schools, conferences, and other settings as needed
- Provide support on the creation of educational resources, including toolkits, lesson plans, class activities, and video resources
- Contribute to education grant proposals and grant reports as needed
- Provide support to editorial team for an education journal project
Required Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate is organized, detailed oriented, and a strategic thinker
- Bachelor’s degree in Policy, Religion, History, Humanities, South Asian Studies, Education, or other related field required
- 2-4 years work experience required
- Working knowledge of India, Indic languages, and Hindu teachings, practices, and traditions a plus, but not required
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to quickly analyze, collate, summarize, and present data
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with academic scholarship in anthropology, sociology, and education and ability to conduct research in these areas, using online journal archives such as JSTOR a plus, but not required
- Fluency in platforms such as Google, Asana, Slack, Zoom, Power Point, etc.
- Works well in a close-knit team environment, but can complete tasks independently when necessary
