Job Description:
The Quality engineer’s job is to take an active role in the maintenance of all quality system requirements and administering the company quality program in relationship with designated customers, including APQP, PPAP, customer concerns, customer visits, gauging, process control plans, supplier issues, IATF16969/ISO9001 elements, and customer-specific requirements. It is required to work with all departments to develop and maintain effective systems to achieve quality objectives and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities:
· Implement and maintain testing & reliable quality systems within the manufacturing guidelines.
· Contribute to the launch and transfer of new products to production through the APQP process and prepare Production Part Approvals (PPAPs) on new and existing products.
· Interface with the shipping department on the development of packaging plans.
· Develop, update, and maintain control plans, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, and other quality/manufacturing documentation.
· Support the Quality Control Inspectors, including making decisions on quality problems found during production, allocating work, reviewing performance, and maintaining records created by the Q.C. Inspectors
· Address internal and external quality issues, including containment & disposition of suspect and nonconforming products, and communicate these issues to the customer and internal areas.
· Conduct root cause analysis and implements corrective & preventive actions for nonconforming products and processes (8D)
· Verify the effectiveness of corrective & preventive actions.
· Conduct process capability and performance studies
· Develop gauge/fixture requirements and assist in gauge/fixture design, calibration, and maintenance.
· Assist in preparing, implementing, and reviewing quality policies and procedures.
· Evaluate parts and processes for continuous improvement of production operations.
· Perform dimensional layouts as required.
· Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 systems and procedures.
· Perform other quality-related activities as required.
Requirements & Qualifications:
· A high school diploma or equivalent requiring an engineering degree is a plus.
· 3 or more years’ experience in a Quality or Engineering role, preferably in the automotive industry.
· Ability to solve complex problems and exercise judgment based on analyzing multiple sources of information.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
· Ability to support and/or lead root cause analysis, disciplined problem-solving, and decision-making processes.
· Proven leadership, interpersonal skills and personal development skills.
· Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and environment.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands:
· Walking, kneeling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting.
· Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, up to 15 pounds of force frequently,
and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
· Can work in a non-air-condition environment.
