Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Development Director is responsible for planning, managing and implementing all fundraising activities for Special Olympics Oklahoma. The Development Director will report directly to the COO.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree with some experience in fundraising, special events, or equivalent business or sales experience.
- Familiarity and understanding of non-profit organizations’ perspective in fiscal development is helpful.
- Familiarity with Special Olympics is desirable.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: o strong organizational skills o leadership and motivational skills o strong oral and written communication skills o sales skills o strong people skills o public speaking skills o strong computer skills

SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the COO
LOCATION: Tulsa, Oklahoma
BEGINNING SALARY: Commensurate with experience with entry level pay
EVALUATION: At the end of 90 days and then annually
POSITION STATUS: Exempt
*The 8:00 to 5:00 time-frame is not always possible. Administrative staff must operate with the concept of “whatever time it takes to insure quality results”.

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Duties and Responsibilities
- Cultivate existing funding sources and identify prospective sources to establish ongoing fundraising programs to benefit the program.
- Serve as the staff liaison in coordinating all fundraising activities with sponsoring organizations.
- Prepare and submit grant proposals and applications to foundations, corporations and civic organizations.
- Work with the Special Events Coordinator ensuring the success of Law Enforcement Torch
Run events.
- Develop appropriate promotional materials for general support as well as for specific projects.
- Supervise training procedures and computer operations as related to donor records, reporting, and receipting.
- Serve as the staff liaison to the Board of Directors’ Development Committee and encourage and enable board members to actively participate in fundraising.
- Ensure that Development initiatives from the Strategic Plan are implemented.
- Serve as liaison for Special Olympics Oklahoma in all matters relating to direct marketing through contracted solicitors including complaints, correspondence, reports, and other matters.
- Supervise the Special Events Coordinator and Development Assistant positions.
- Develop an annual fundraising action plan.
- Provide development assistance to volunteer Area programs.
- Ability to travel and to work evenings and weekends to meet job requirements.
- Meet regularly with the COO to evaluate overall operations.
- Assist with projects and other duties as assigned by the COO.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
