Support students, staff, faculty, community members, and guests by providing exceptional customer service over the phone and in-person. Assist current and prospective students, sponsoring agencies, and other educational partners by providing accurate information on college programs and services.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Serve as front-line contact and create a welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and community members.
- Participate in the daily operation Student Services desk.
- Respond courteously and promptly to in-person and telephone inquiries, serving diverse populations in a warm inclusive manner.
- Provide accurate, consistent information.
- Report building/safety issues.
- Use college software (Banner, MySLCC, and SLCC website) to trouble-shoot issues with application and registration.
- Assist students with the admissions and application process.
- Help process transcript requests, residency documentation, enrollment verification forms, and other documents.
- Use Transact system to create OneCards.
- Perform functions related to the Information Desk, including knowledge about OneCard, Parking, and Cashiering Services.
- Participate in staff meetings, internal/local conferences, and trainings to stay current on college information.
- Support other entities within the department through cross-training and filling in as needed.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- One (1) year related work experience
- Basic computer skills.
- Additional education may be substituted for work experience on a 1:1 basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in customer service
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Experience in higher education, either as a student or as an employee
- Bilingual or Multilingual

- Excellent customer service skills, cultural competencies and sensibilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other office staff at a variety of campuses and departments
- Organizational and processing skills with a high level of accuracy
- Basic computer literacy, including word processing, data management, and internal navigation
- Knowledge of general office procedures and etiquette
- Ability to use basic office equipment and computer database systems and programs
- Ability to safeguard protected information
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College and community.
- Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties Special Instructions
Morning shift: 7:45am-12:45pm Monday-Thursday during summer (college is closed on Fridays during the summer) then 7:45am-12:45pm Monday-Friday
Based at South City Campus but will include work/travel to other SLCC campuses.
