Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to join our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and organizing medical records in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
-Medical Records Clerk
Reports to Director of Nursing, dotted line to Administrator
Handling of patient records:
· Prepare patient charts and gather information and documents from relevant sources, such as the Admissions office, patients, families and external physicians
· Ensure that the medical records are organized, accurate and complete
· Create digital copies of paperwork and store the records electronically
· Filing of paperwork and report in a timely and accurate manner
· Safeguarding patient records and ensuring that in any transfer of patient information, that HIPPA rules are followed
· Processes records upon admission and discharge of patient
· Processes records requests, including OMIG or other governing body requests, ensuring HIPPA documentation is filled out and that records sent out are logged in a log book for supervisor to review.
· Create invoice, if applicable, for the records to be sent out
· Records to be sent out with return receipt so that we have proof of receipt by the requestor
Coding:
· Codes relevant patient diagnoses into electronic health records, coordinating with admissions and nursing
Transportation of Residents/Patients:
· Liaison with nursing, make doctor appointments for patients and organize transportation for patients, creating a log for nursing to review
· Ensure that any cancellations are coordinated with transportation
Requirements:
- Knowledge of medical records systems and procedures
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Proficiency in using medical office software and electronic health record systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Pay: $20.21 - $24.00 per hour
