The Electrician maintains, diagnoses, repairs and ensures the proper, safe and efficient operation of the facilities electrical systems including, lighting, power, motors, controls, appliances and back-up generator as well as communications equipment such as telephone, cable TB and life safety systems.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

High School Education, Vo-tech training or specialized training courses in electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.

State of Virginia (DPOR) Electrician license preferred.
JOB DUTIES:
-
Diagnoses, inspects, upgrades, installs and repairs electrical wiring, apparatus and equipment throughout the campus.

Install, test, maintain, repair and calibrate as necessary and directed – facility computerized building management system, including: central controller, distributed control devises, sensors and actuators.

Ensure compliance with the regulations of the State Health Department, National Fire Code (NFPA), Life Safety Code and State/Local building codes.

Monitors the work of outside electrical contractors to ensure code and contract compliance.

Reports deficiencies beyond the control or capabilities of the maintenance department and suggest remedies.

Assists the Department Director in the development and implementation of the electrical related preventive maintenance program and makes recommendations for improvements to enhance operation and efficiency of physical plant.

Assist other technicians and mechanics in trouble shooting systems and problems.

Performs other duties as required to ensure the well-being and satisfaction of the Resident and Family.

May be assigned to other building maintenance tasks and snow removal when needed.

Holiday, inclement weather and a flexible work schedule are required in Maintenance and Engineering to meet the needs of the job. Team members are required to be available for unforeseen circumstances and emergencies.
QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY
-
Knowledge and experience in electrical and other systems, such as HVAC, boilers, chillers, air handling equipment and direct digital control systems which relate and rely on electric systems.

5+ years experience in installation and repair of commercial and residential electrical systems.
-
Computer experience in Windows environment. Good driving record.
