The expected salary range is $145,000 to $160,000 and subject to change at any time at the discretion of the Company.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Inland Marine Underwriting Specialist will have a sound foundation in underwriting principles to go and maintain a profitable diversified portfolio of Inland Marine business per company underwriting strategies, guidelines, and standards. The position will review and analyze new business submissions and mid-term endorsement requests to determine acceptability for quoting/binding within granted Letter of Authority and established unit guidelines. It will also be responsible for renewal business/retention, underwriting to a profit.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Applies sound underwriting principles, policies, procedures, and controls.

Selects, prices, classifies and determines coverage terms of individual general liability risks following established company guidelines and philosophies.

Meets production and marketing goals while maintaining underwriting integrity and overall profitability of the product line.

Develops production sources and relationships. Maintains excellent communication with brokers and makes broker visits as required.

Works collaboratively with other team members and mentors less experienced underwriters and support staff.

Monitors key performance metrics in order to achieve individual and unit goals.

Keeps current on issues affecting the Inland Marine line of business as well as the competitors and the overall marketplace.

Attends industry conferences as required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university.

Minimum of five years of experience in inland marine underwriting

Established relationships with wholesale and retail brokers, preferred

Associate in Marine Insurance Management (AMIM) or other insurance related designations, a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands are considered to be that of an office environment, climate controlled, with minimal physical exertion. This position requires prolonged sitting, ability to utilize a computer and interactions with others in meetings or via phone. Occasional travel will be required.
