Computer Lab Aide
The Computer Lab Aide works within the rehabilitative framework that the Assistant Director or Director designed.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complies with the company IT policies and procedures, which includes security, network, hardware and software policies, etc.
- Ensures that all IT-related equipment is functioning correctly within the computer lab.
- Reports and assesses malfunctions of hardware and software applications to determine appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations.
- Coordinates scheduling primary entry level training usage of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Internet Explorer.
- Informs returning citizens of standard computer technology and terminology.
- Monitors all usage/activities to maintain a safe environment conducive to learning.
- Offers to assist returning citizens with resume building and employment searches.
DUTIES:
- Monitor returning citizens’ computer usage such that they are only doing what they are authorized to do
- Assist returning citizens by answering their questions to the best of your ability, referring them to other information sources (i.e., handouts, etc.)
- Provide general assistance with computer operation and software features (printing, saving, and retrieving documents, etc.)
- Maintain the Lab by checking and reporting problems, damage, vandalism, or theft of equipment.
- Ensure all company and contractor policies, procedures and rules are not violated.
- Maintain and update a list of software used in the lab.
- Maintain a user attendance sheet.
- Clean surfaces of all workstations, printers, and servers, including monitors and tables, every week.
- Coordinate the computer lab schedule with the Assistant Director/Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
- The Computer Lab Aide must be flexible and available to workday, evening, and some weekend hours, as needed by the facility.
- The Computer Lab Aide must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid as a condition of employment and must be physically capable of assisting in life safety situations such as giving CPR and fire emergency procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent diploma.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware parts and software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal, reading and writing skills have the ability to understand a variety of manuals related to the computer equipment, writing documents to handout and/or present information to others.
- Ability to work and communicate with diverse individuals, adapting to changing work priorities, establish professional relationships, maintaining confidentiality, working with frequent interruptions and problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans.
CLEARANCE
Employees assigned to this position must satisfy all requirements under the contracts with applicable federal state and local government agencies. All employees must pass an NCIC criminal record background check, after conditional offer of employment. Each employee will be fingerprinted by the Bureau of Prisons staff and/or a designee, and subject to investigation.
