The Director of the Magnet Program serves as the principal administrative officer for nursing Magnet re-designation, and is responsible for enterprise-wide efforts around developing, implementing and enhancing conceptual models that drive professional nursing practice and nursing quality outcomes. This position provides management and operational support to the CNO and other Nursing leaders. Provides administrative and analytical support, plans and predicts quality, staff satisfaction, and certification needs based on Magnet requirements, provides analysis of results from internal monitors and benchmarking and assesses and evaluates clinical outcomes and leadership. The Director champions and manages the organizational change required in adopting evidence-based methodologies that embrace Patient-Centered Care, the nursing professional practice model, and shared decision making that is the foundation of Magnet designation. Serves as the expert in elevating the professional practice environment supporting decision making structures within nursing. Designs, implements and evaluates innovative and creative systems, processes, clinical practices that improve patient care delivery and clinical outcomes. Assures the Magnet framework and essential domains are enculturated and hardwired into the organization through coordination, education and consultation with Leadership. Leads education for staff and Magnet Champions on key initiatives and Magnet principles. Conducts gap analysis for evidence of the Magnet Model components and works closely with leadership to formulate plans to close the gaps in performance.
Provides leadership and oversight for the Magnet recognition program and is responsible for retaining recognition as a Magnet Nursing Organization by the American Nurses Credentialing Center by assessing enterprise readiness, ensuring improvement strategies to meet Magnet criteria are formulated and implemented, oversee the development and completion of the Magnet re-designation application, annual report submissions, site visit survey lead and serves as UF Health Jacksonville’s Magnet researcher. Concurrently, this position serves as a model for leadership and the cornerstone for the public relations with the requisite external agencies.
Required Education:
Master's degree.
Specific course work: MSN from an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred Education:
Doctorate/PhD degree
Required Licensure/Certifications:
-Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida
-Effective January 1, 2015, all new hires or transfers must have a professional certification within two years of hire or transfer.
-For certifications that require a specified number of cases or hours worked within the specialty, the certification must be applied for once the case/time requirement has been met, and the certification must be obtained within one year of the requirement having been met (e.g. oncology, chemotherapy, diabetes education).

3-5 years Nursing Magnet, evidence based practice, supervision or administration level nursing experience AND over 4 years of Nursing clinical practice
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience managing Magnet Programs in a large academic medical center.
Necessary Skills:
1. Leadership/management skills and the ability to bring high professional nursing standards to the work place are essential.
2. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. Knowledgeable in principles of Magnet, ANCC standards, nursing quality, meaningful use, professional practice, shared governance, and evidence-based practice.
4. Computer skills and ability to develop presentations using PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills with staff, patients and families, physicians, other disciplines, and administration.
