The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for all the functions of the accounts payable department including direct supervision of accounts payable staff, managing payments to suppliers, recommending new practices, ensuring compliance and meeting deadlines. Effective vendor management implementing efficiencies and technological improvements as they become available
Essential Functions:
· Leads the month-end close process for Accounts Payable.
· Overall responsibility to ensure payment to suppliers are accurate and complete.
· Partners with other Finance staff (Controller, Director of Accounting, Grant Manager, Treasury Analyst, etc.) to ensure proper cash management forecasting and timing of payments.
· Monitors the Accounts Payable system and processes so that vendor invoices and payments are completed in a timely and accurate manner. This is inclusive of exploring new processes and AI integration into the daily process steps.
· Develops and maintains financial reports to enable review of metrics and key performance indicators.
· Manage the Agency’s Accounts Payable Aging weekly to determine and prioritize payments.
· Ability to effectively transition mergers/acquisitions into Fedcap’ s account payable system and processes.
· Ensures Accounts Payable policies and procedures are being complied with and are up to date to ensure proper controls.
· Builds relationships with Vendors and internal customers.
· Supervise direct reports and act as primary resource for questions and troubleshooting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of Oracle is a MUST
· Knowledge of and ability to follow agency, and department policies and procedures.
· Ability to work under pressure and able to prioritize workloads.
· Ability to effectively interact with various department personnel
· Ability to work as part of a team and ability to coach, coordinate, and lead staff.
· Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
· Excellent written and verbal skills.
· Excellent Microsoft Excel skills required.
· Strong knowledge of accounts payable and financial concepts.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
Experience: Ten years minimum of Accounts Payable experience and related supervisory experience preferred. Extensive knowledge of Accounts Payable computerized information systems or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
