Job Coach / Vocational Counselor - Part and full time positions; Provide therapeutic mentoring, job training, vocational habilitation and rehabilitation services.
Staff works directly with students in a variety of community-based settings to assist the students developing competitive skills to meet academic / transitional / vocational goals. Actively engage, inspire and assist students in developing their sense of value and belonging in Options and their community.
DUTIES Included and not limited to;
- Provide transportation and engagement in the learning process at community-based job sites, college, certificate program and life skills settings.
- Assumes responsibility for implementation of Individualized Education Plans and Transition Plans goals, behavior support plans, teaching strategies, and reporting requirements.
- Assist student’s self-discovery of their abilities and challenges and collaboratively develop methods to improve the students’ performance.
- Represents Options in a manner that promotes positive community sentiment and engages job sites, higher education and other community partners in the process of developing our students.
- Communicate with job site supervisors to understand the requirements of the job and work environment. Assist the student developing their soft skills, technical skills and social skills on community-based sites.
- Model and teach proper workplace behaviors in interactions with the employer/community.
- Actively participate and collaborate in Options interdisciplinary team process to develop in-depth understanding of students and develop opportunity, methods and interventions to promote learning.
- Help students understand and process personal factors or situations that interfere with productive learning and assists students in making positive personal choices.
- Provide transportation training as needed.
- Assist the student learning and accessing proper medical care.
- Assist the student in learning proper community-based safety practices.
- Documents daily data for the individual’s goals, ADL strategies, behavior tracking, and all other forms of documentation as requested and needed.
- Perform pre-trip safety checks of the student transport vehicles and communicate needed items of possible repair.
- Actively provide a positive and helpful demeanor with coworkers and other students.
- Proactively maintain cleanliness and order within Options school and vehicles.
- Other duties as assigned by the Administration.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
College preferred and industry related trainings or experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Eligible for or currently possess a Class V endorsement on driver’s license.
- Ability to actively engage and support coworkers.
- Strong interpersonal skills and team player.
- Documented ability to engage with youth, students or individuals with disabilities and have the ability to implement methods and strategies to improve students’ performance.
- Possession of excellent communication and writing skills.
- Ability to be flexible and attend and perform on a variety of community-based sites.
Work year: We are open 12 months a year with the possibility of summers off.
